Moroccothon 2026: who owns what

The bootcamp is free and volunteer-run.

The online bootcamp costs nothing and is run by volunteers in their own time. It is not a course, a bootcamp in the paid-training sense, or a service you are buying. Sessions can move or be cancelled if the people running them cannot make it, and we will tell you as early as we can when that happens.

Sessions may be recorded and shared.

We usually record the bootcamp so people who could not attend, or who are in another timezone, can watch it afterwards, and we may share that recording with everyone who registered. If you would rather not appear in it, keep your camera and microphone off and use the chat — that is completely fine and nobody will ask you why.

You keep what you make.

Anything you build during or after the bootcamp is yours. Global Moroccans claims no ownership of it and no share in anything you go on to do with it.

Nothing is a guarantee of a job, funding, or a result.

The bootcamp is teaching and practice, nothing more. It is not a promise of employment, an introduction to an employer, an investment, a recommendation, or a qualification, and no part of it should be read as one. What you get out of it depends on what you put into it.

The team owns what they build.

If you are a builder, whatever you and your team make during Moroccothon belongs to you. Global Moroccans claims no ownership of it, no licence to it beyond showing it publicly as part of the event, and no share in anything you go on to do with it.

The business gets the day, the demos and the introduction.

If you are a business owner who brought a problem, builders spend build day on it and show you what they came up with at the demos. Judges score every team on how much it would help your business and whether you could actually adopt it. You meet the people who built it, and we make the introduction.

The team owns what they build. Bringing a problem does not give you a right to use it. If you want to use it, change it, host it or take it further, that is a matter between you and the team, on whatever terms you agree between yourselves. Some teams choose to publish their work openly, under an open-source licence, which anyone can then use free and as-is.

What data you share with a team, and how they use it, is also between you and them. Global Moroccans does not see, store or handle it, and is not a party to anything you and the team agree.

Nothing is guaranteed to be built.

This is a one-day event. Teams choose which problems to take, and not every problem will be picked up. A team may not finish. What gets built may not work well, or at all. Global Moroccans does not promise a result and cannot require a team to keep going.

Nothing is guaranteed to be maintained.

Teams have no obligation to support, host, fix or continue anything after the day. If a team stops, the tool may stop working and there is nothing Global Moroccans can do about that. Please do not build a critical part of your business on something made in a day.

Your business information stays yours.

Whatever you share about how your business works is yours. It is used to build against your problem and for us to describe what the event produced. We will not publish your name, your business name or your details without asking you first.

Nobody takes equity.

Not the team, not Global Moroccans. Nothing here gives anyone a stake in your business.

Global Moroccans is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3).

Nobody is paid, including the organisers. This is offered in good faith and without warranty of any kind.
